Immigrant oder: Die Mauer muß weg!
Meine Liebe zur Bush-Regierung ist ja bekanntlich grenzenlos. Die USA sind genau das nicht und machen ihre Grenzen nun vor allem nach Süden hin dicht:
George W. Bush hat heute das Gesetz unterzeichnet, das den Bau einer 1200km langen und 1,2 Milliarden Dollar teuren Mauer an der Grenze zu Mexiko ermöglicht. Erklärtes Ziel: die Verhinderung illegaler Einwanderung.
In diesem Zusammenhang ist mir (ausgerechnet) in einem amerikanischen online-Shop für T-Shirts folgender Absatz besonders positiv aufgefallen:

The people he was speaking of are mostly coming from a part of Mexico we did not conquer, to a part that we did and I'm guessing most of them did not leave a country with nationalized health care for a country with out because they are diseased. Anyone could tell that white descendant of european immigrants who came and settled land taken from indigenous people whom are now considered immigrants that. Every person in the world is an immigrant according to someone's definition. Show them your face so they know who to be scared of.
Hintergrund: Klaus Industries verbindet den Verkauf von T-Shirts mit gesellschaftlichen Anliegen. Ein Teil des Erlöses geht als Spende an ausgesuchte Projekte; die Spenden aus dem hier erwähnten „Immigrant“-T-Shirt gehen an eine Immigrantin und unterstützen ihre finanziell aufwändigen Auseinandersetzungen mit der US-Bürokratie. Da das alles unter dem Motto „T-Shirt of the Month“ läuft, ist genau dieses eine Shirt vielleicht irgendwann nicht mehr online. Ein Bild des Shirts und den Text gibt es aber auch in diesem Weblog.
